Classroom placement is based on age and developmental readiness. Transitions are gradual and designed to help children adjust comfortably and confidently.
We are open Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Families may choose full-time or part-time schedules based on their needs.
We serve children ages 6 weeks through 12 years across our Infant, Early Preschool, Preschool, TK, and School-Age programs. Each program is designed to meet the developmental needs of that specific age range.
We follow California Title 22 ratios while often exceeding them to provide additional support. Our ratios are:
• Infants (6 weeks–24 months): 1 teacher to 4 children
• Early Preschool, Preschool, TK: 1 teacher to 12 children
• School-Age: 1 teacher to 14 children
Whenever staffing allows, Kingston Academy places additional teachers in classrooms to enhance supervision, safety, and instructional quality.
Yes. We accept RCOE and CalWORKs Self-Sufficiency funding. Private pay families and co-pays must be paid through the Brightwheel app, which provides digital receipts and account tracking.
A late fee of $20 per family applies after 6:00 PM. Beginning at 6:10 PM, a fee of $2 per minute per child applies. This ensures fairness to staff and compliance with licensing regulations.
Families must bring a full change of clothing, a fitted crib sheet and blanket, labeled personal items, immunization records, completed enrollment forms, the first week’s tuition, and a required emergency comfort kit.
We do not offer refunds or make-up days for missed attendance. Families who have been enrolled for one full year may receive one week of vacation credit annually.
Early Preschool, Preschool, TK, and Kinder students rest from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM daily. Each child uses a personal cot and bedding provided by families.
All families must use Brightwheel to sign children in and out. RCOE and CalWORKs families must sign physical attendance certificates as well. Only adults 18 or older may pick up children.
Yes. Outdoor play is part of our daily curriculum unless weather or air quality prevents safe outdoor time.
Teachers check diapers every hour and change them every two hours or immediately if soiled. This routine supports comfort, hygiene, and healthy skin care.
No. Parents must provide all formula, breast milk, baby food, and toddler food until their child is fully ready to eat meals from the school menu.
Children may not bring toys from home unless it is a scheduled Share Day or a prearranged accommodation with the teacher. Toys depicting violence or pretend violence (such as guns, swords, or weapons) are prohibited.
School-age children may bring cell phones; however, phones must remain put away during the day and cannot be used without staff permission. If a phone becomes a distraction, it will be held safely until pick-up. Younger classrooms may not bring phones or electronics.
Yes. Potty training support begins in the Early Preschool classroom (around age 2), depending on each child’s developmental readiness. Potty training is a cooperative effort between parents and teachers.
Yes. In the School-Age program, homework time is provided every afternoon when students arrive from school, either before or after their PM snack.
No. Kingston Academy is a nut-free preschool. We recommend parents use safe alternatives such as sunflower butter or Wow Butter.
No. We cannot heat up any food brought from home. However, we provide hot meals daily through our free food program.
Communication is maintained through Brightwheel, parent boards, daily updates, notes, and direct messaging between families and staff.
Yes. We have an open-door policy for families as long as visits do not disrupt classroom routines. Extended visits may require additional documentation per licensing.
Yes. Teachers use observations, portfolios, anecdotal notes, and formal assessments to support learning goals and partner with families.
Our program follows Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP), emphasizing hands-on learning, exploration, language development, problem-solving, and social-emotional growth.
We use positive redirection, modeling, emotional coaching, and developmentally appropriate expectations. Discipline is never punitive and always focuses on teaching skills and encouraging positive choices.
Yes. Field trips are offered for children in 1st grade and older during summer and off-track periods. Permission slips and deadlines are strictly enforced.
Transportation is offered for School-Age children only and seating is limited.
Prohibited items include violent-themed toys, electronics without permission, jewelry, pacifiers or bottles (outside the infant room), and cell phones for younger classrooms.
